The newest variant of Sars-Covid-19 has surfaced and has been designated as "omicron". This one is displacing the highly virulent delta variant, which implies that it is more successful at surviving from one host to the next. There are three questions: 1. is it more contagious than the delta variant; 2. what is it's lethality as compared to the delta variant; 3. will the existing medicines (vaccines, suppressants) be effective against it? The clock is running as omicron is already on three continents. This will make for a difficult holiday season.
